This is a highly zoomed photo of the fire lookout station at the summit of Beech Mountain. Two days later, we hiked to the top of Beech Mountain and climbed halfway up the stairs on this station (that was all that was open to the public). This photo was taken from the Sea Princess. This is the Sea Princess, a boat used for scenic tours south of Mount Desert Island. Our tour was supposed to go to Little Cranberry Island, but due to rather strong winds and high waves, we detoured up Somes Sound instead (after passing east, then south, of Sutton Island).
