Maine (October 2012)

Stu and I traveled to New England in early/mid-October, 2012. We visited two main locations: the Museum of Science in Boston MA, and Acadia National Park in Maine. Of the more than 1,060 photos I took, 56 appear here as representative samples. These photos were all taken with my Canon PowerShot SX230 HS camera. As with most of the albums here, the photos have been reduced in size: these are 1,024 pixels long by 768 wide (regardless of orientation). Latitude and longitude values are provided, generally with an accuracy within about 10-20 meters, except indoor shots. You can copy the values and paste them into Google Maps/Earth (or any GIS software, perhaps with minor modifications) to see the locations. The locations were mostly provided by the camera, but my Garmin eTrex HCx filled in where the camera's GPS wasn't able to get a good enough signal. Indoor locations were estimated as noted.

Spain (July-August 2008)

Stu and I left for Spain on July 22, 2008, and returned to Oklahoma on August 3. Of the approximately 1,300 photos I took, about three dozen were good/interesting enough to display here. These photos (and one video) were all taken with my new Canon SD890 IS camera. As with most of the albums here, the photos have been re-sized or cropped to 800 x 600 pixels. Latitude and longitude values are provided, generally with an accuracy within about 10-20 meters (about 200-500 meters for shots from a moving vehicle). You can copy the values and paste them into Google Maps/Earth (or any GIS software, perhaps with minor modifications) to see the locations. Unless otherwise noted, the tracking information was derived from my Garmin eTrex Vista Cx track log.

The Upper Falls of the Tahquamenon River. This is my favorite waterfall (of the ones I've visited). It is 200 feet (60 m) wide, 50 feet (15 m) high, and is surrounded by spectacular scenery.

Stu and I took the Spring Trail up as far as the steps (shown here) go, decided it wasn't for us (at least given the amount of time we had left to hike), and ended up going the other way on the Spring Trail (toward the Jordan Pond House). This photo was taken near the southeastern-most extent of Mount Penobscot.Oct 31, 2012
