District of Columbia 2018
Washington, District of Columbia
Wednesday, January 24 through Sunday, January 28, 2018
We flew from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dulles International Airport in Virginia, west of Washington DC. We rode a bus from/to the airport to/from our hotel, and walked most other places within Washington. We did ride the metro (subway) a few times. We spent the large majority of our time visiting various Smithsonian Institution museums.
I tracked the trip with a Bad Elf GPS Pro+ GPSr (GPS receiver), using my iPhone 8 (Gaia app) as a backup (along with the FlightRadar24 website). Of course, the GPSr couldn't track us underground, so the subway travel is not correctly shown. The GPSr also had great difficulties with indoor tracking, and several of the GPX files have been edited to remove the most egregious tracking errors.
NOTE: the downloadable GPX tracks are the full GPX files, while those shown on the provided "view map" links are simplified (with minimal effect on geographic accuracy) for much faster viewing.
Original GPX tracks are unedited, except as noted above.
