Maine 2022 (Spring)
House hunting trip, mainly Penobscot and Hancock Counties, Maine
Thursday, April 28 through Wednesday, May 4, 2022
We flew from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Bangor, Maine via George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, and Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey. We spent six nights in Ellsworth, Maine. We looked at many houses that were for sale at the time, including indoor showings of five with a local realtor. We returned to Oklahoma City via Newark and Houston (reverse of outbound route).
I tracked the trip with a Bad Elf GPS Pro+ GPSr (GPS receiver), using my iPhone 12 (Gaia GPS app) as a backup (along with the FlightAware and FlightRadar24 websites).
NOTE: the downloadable GPX tracks are the full GPX files, while those shown on the provided "view map" links are simplified (with minimal effect on geographic accuracy) for much faster viewing.
Original GPX tracks are unedited, except where necessary to fill in missing data. Edited tracks are noted in their descriptions.

Thursday, April 28

Note that this track omits the initial and final few minutes of the flight and taxiing because it’s the track from FlightRadar24, not from my handheld GPSr. The aircraft was a Boeing 787 “Dreamliner”, which has metallic window shades, and blocks the GPS signal in the passenger compartment.

Friday, April 29

Saturday, April 30
- GPX / view map—Driving from the hotel in Ellsworth to the realty company in Bucksport to 18 Deer Run Lane(Lamoine) to 381 Mann Hill Road (Holden) to 79 Sunset Road (Dedham). We stopped at all these places with the realtor, and were shown the three listed properties, two of which (all but Lamoine) we ruled out after seeing them up close.
- GPX / view map—Driving to see 10 Ridgeway Drive (Bar Harbor) from the street, then on to Bar Harbor (city) for dinner, and back to the hotel. We later entered an offer for 10 Ridgeway Drive, but were outbid.
Sunday, May 1

- GPX / view map—Driving to dinner in Ellsworth, then to (near) a property of interest, which apparently was (is?) not accessible by any road, then back to the hotel.
Monday, May 2
- GPX / view map—Driving, exploring available properties of interest on MDI, and checking on which businesses were open (in early May) in Northeast Harbor.
- GPX / view map—Driving to 907 Eastern (Brewer) and 325 Lower Dedham Road (Holden) to view two more houses in person. We eliminated the first later in the day, but remained interested (but not interested enough to make an offer) in the second for several weeks (when the seller apparently accepted someone’s offer). After the showings, we went to Northeast Harbor for dinner, then returned to the hotel.
Tuesday, May 3
- GPX / view map—Driving to more houses/lots of interest. We went first to Lamoine (again), then through Surry, to the realty office (Bucksport), by the house on Lower Dedham Road (Holden), then through Ellsworth to Sullivan, and back to the hotel.
